Vegan Testimonial by Yesai
The first time i heard about a vegan diet I was struck by how absolutely right it seemed to me and for me. Within a few seconds of hearing about it I embraced it wholeheartedly, knowing that it was correct. I have never had a second thought about this diet from my initial encounter and acceptance of it. I have continued to deepen my understanding of its many health and healing benefits since that initial encounter, but I have never felt the slightest need to re-evaluate my initial spiritual conviction of its correctness. I have seen my children grow and flourish within the vegan lifestyle and wholeheartedly encourage all to embrace and follow its compassionate and wise implementation. Peace to all- yesai
Vegan Testimonial by John
I have been vegetarian for over 30 years, and vegan on and off. Recently, I have decided to go totally vegan. Part of my influence is yoga practice. Kali Ray, the founder of a system of yoga called "Tri Yoga", has influenced me greatly. He inspired John Robbins to write "Diet for a New America".Kali Ray has been a vegan for over 25 years, and is a great yogini and practitioner of the vow of "Ahinsma", which is central to yoga practice.
In our country, there is no reason to use animal foods in the diet. For me, not going totally vegan was mainly for convenience. To be vegan takes some work, some control. The benefits are great, however. It is interesting that today, many are going towards very unbalanced high protein diets, often advocated by people who are overweight themselves. On the other end of the spectrum are great doctors like Dean Ornish, John McDoughall and Michael Klapper, who advocate a low fat vegan diet, and are lean and fit themselves. All three of these men came to similar conclusions from entirely different perspectives. You can look at veganism from an ethical, ecological, or from a health perspective. Obviously, you can be an unhealthy vegan, or a very healthy one, depending on your food choices. My goal is to eat mostly organic, unprocessed vegan foods. I wish success to all on the vegan path. Namaste, John
Famous Vegetarians:
Sir Paul Mccartney needs no introduction from us!
If you think about it, what could be better than enjoying great tasting food that is not only good for your health, but also far better for the planet and the creatures that live with us upon it?"
Fashion designer Stella Mccartney is well known for her uncompromising vegetarian standards, believing that “it is wrong to eat dead animals on many levels: it is destructive for the environment, it is not ethical, it has been proven to be damaging to your health and, spiritually, you should love and live with your fellow creatures, not kill them!" Stella describes the best thing about being a vegetarian as “waking up in the morning with a clear conscience” …
From Pythagorus and Plato to Mahatma Gandhi and Tolstoy, vegetarians have been in the public eye for centuries. Celebrities choosing a cruelty-free diet today include actors Woody Harrelsen and Scott Maslen (The Bill); musicians Moby and Heather Small; politicians Tony Benn and the late Tony Banks; comedians Dave Spikey and Sean Hughes; poet Benjamin Zephaniah and novelist Ruth Rendell – to name just a few.
